HIFU facial

HIFU facial

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly.
Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage. While this may seem counterintuitive, the damage actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen — a protein that provides structure to the skin.
The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin

with fewer wrinkles. Since the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and adjacent issue.
HIFU may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.
People with photodamaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.
Older people with more extensive photo-aging, severe skin laxity, or very saggy skin on the neck aren’t good candidates and may need surgery.
HIFU isn’t recommended for people with infections and open skin lesions at the target area, severe or cystic acne, and metallic implants in the treatment area.

Benefits of high-intensity focused ultrasound

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), HIFU and other nonsurgical alternatives to facelifts have seen a major increase in popularity over the last few years. The total number of procedures performed has increased 64.8 percent between 2012 and 2017.
HIFU has many aesthetic benefits, including:

  • wrinkle reduction
  • tightening sagging skin on the neck (sometimes called turkey neck)
  • lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids
  • enhancing jawline definition
  • tightening of the décolletage
  • smoothing the skin

Study results are promising. A 2017 study involving 32 Korean people showed that HIFU significantly improved skin elasticity of the cheeks, lower abdomen, and thighs after 12 weeks.
In a larger study of 93 people, 66 percent of those treated with HIFU perceived an improvement in the appearance of their face and neck after 90 days.

What is HIFU Treatment?

HIFU stands for ‘High Intensity Focused Ultrasound’, this treatment can target various depths of the body’s tissue for skin tightening, skin lifting and body contouring. Entirely non-invasive, HIFU works by targeting deep layers in the skin – it boosts new collagen production and collagen regeneration right at the source. It is sometime called the ‘Lunchtime Face Lift’ as the treatment is quick, very tolerable and has no downtime.

What is HIFU treatment for face?

HIFU treatment for the face works as a non-invasive facelift. It tightens the skin, irons out wrinkles, shrinks pores, targets the ‘V’ line formation and Jowell lines. HIFU improves overall skin tone, pores, brightness and elasticity.

In LifePlus we use a device called ULTRAFORMER III, this is a Medical Grade CE marked system. This HIFU machine targets the upper dermis 1.5mm, lower dermis 3.00mm and most importantly the SMAS at 4.5mm. The SMAS is the layer that sits between your muscle and your fat layer. This SMAS layer is the actual area a plastic surgeon would pull and tighten under a surgical operation using a knife. HIFU targets this layer without any surgical incisions, giving the patient a no-downtime facelift. Which means you can gain excellent results without any risks associated with surgery, such as infection, scarring, swelling etc. Treatments are fast and results can be seen immediately for some patients, depending on the level of laxity your skin has.
HIFU treatment is known as the ‘lunch time face lift’ as it’s quick and you can return to work nd continue with your day. Some people may have some mild redness and maybe light bruising the next day. With the ULTRAFROMER III HIFU device we can even treat around your eyes, thanks to the MF2 slim cartridge, which allows us to treat your delicate eye area. Great if you want an upper eyelid lift.

What is HIFU treatment for body / weight loss / inch loss?

Ultraformer’s 9mm and 13mm cartridges are used for the body, here HIFU energy is used to target the fat layer and destroy fat cells. HIFU is ideal for body contouring post pregnancy tummy, abdomen fat, bingo wings, thighs and under the buttocks; for a non-surgical bum lifting effect. HIFU is a very effective treatment for both inch loss and fat loss – at the same time tightening the skin!

Does HIFU Treatments hurt?

Our HIFU device offers faster shot speeds and shorter intervals between each shot, this means it’s very comfortable for the patient, in fact far more comfortable and less painful than many other HIFU treatments on the market. Some people describe it as feeling like tiny electric pulses, or a prickly sensation. It’s not pain free but it’s completely tolerable and it may feel different on different areas of your face or body.

IS HIFU SAFE FOR THE FACE?

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is considered a very safe anti-ageing treatment for the face. HIFU is a cosmetic treatment that boosts collagen production and results in tightening deep beneath the skin to provide a visible lift to facial skin.

THE HIFU TREATMENT

A HIFU facial at ENRICH is performed by one of our expert practitioners using the Ultraformer III, a safe, state-of-the-art medical ultrasound device. We use safe HIFU on the face to achieve non-invasive facial tissue lifting, and to improve skin texture and tone.
One of our newer treatment options for non-surgical skin tightening, Ultraformer HIFU treatments result in an unmatched boost for sagging facial tissue. There are few short-lived side-effects from safe HIFU facial treatments in some people.
You can expect is some minor signs of inflammation at first, which means the treatment has worked. Deeper layers of collagen fibres are tightened and collagen production is increased. The treatment results become much clearer at the three-month mark, since collagen takes time to be naturally be produced.

BEST CANDIDATES FOR SAFE ULTRAFORMER (HIFU) FACE TREATMENTS

Almost anyone can benefit from safe Ultrafomer (HIFU) face treatments at ENRICH, but there are some people who cannot be treated due to the nature of this high-tech skin treatment. There are no barriers based on gender, skin colour, skin type or age, however those with ageing skin tend to see the most obvious results.
People who can’t get HIFU skin treatments include anyone with an active skin infection, open wounds or visible acne lesions in the treatment area. People with pacemakers or other electronic implants are not able to undergo this type of treatment, and those who are pregnant are also excluded.
Results can be less visible in those with extensive sun damage and people who smoke.
If you aren’t able to naturally heal in a reasonable timeframe, HIFU may not be the best treatment for you. The skin is required to perform at a basic level to repair and regenerate.

BEST CANDIDATES FOR SAFE ULTRAFORMER (HIFU) FACE TREATMENTS

HIFU treatments work by applying high-energy ultrasound energy underneath the skin. The ultrasound works on deeper levels of skin and collagen, without harming other tissue or the outer skin. This is one of the reasons HIFU treatments are so effective: they go deep, leaving untreated skin untouched. This is in comparison to other anti-ageing skin treatments such as laser resurfacing or chemical peels, which act on the skin’s surface.
The Ultraformer has four multi-depth cartridges directly transfer ultrasound energy into multiple layers of the face to trigger collagen renewal for a tighter, younger complexion.

CAN ULTRAFORMER HIFU TREATMENTS BE PERFORMED ON OTHER AREAS OF THE BODY?

HIFU treatments can be applied anywhere on the body, with some outstanding results on cellulite, collagen production and skin tightening on the upper arms, thighs, knees, and abdomen. HIFU treatments work in exactly the same way wherever they are applied, tightening collagen and muscle for the overall tighter appearance of skin.
Loose skin after significant weight loss can be non-surgically tightened with HIFU treatments, especially for those who are not keen for the surgical removal of excess skin.

HOW OFTEN WILL I NEED ULTRAFORMER (HIFU) FACE TREATMENTS?

Most people can start with one Ultraformer HIFU treatment to start with, however, in some cases, two may be performed three or four months apart. For maintenance, treatments may be scheduled annually, however, the frequency will be determined by your cosmetic specialist. At ENRICh we have the mantra that 1 +1 =3, so two treatments reasonable close together will give you the benefit of three. The Ultraformer ( HIFU) treatment is one of those treatments that you tend to see the full benefit months up the track. It is the nature of the treatment and the depth in which the ultrasound energy goes into the layers of the skin.

WHAT DOES RESEARCH SAY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF HIFU FACIAL TREATMENTS?

A 2015 study (Park et al) published in the Annals of Dermatology looked into how well the HIFU treatments worked and how satisfied the patients were after their treatments. The study was conducted on 20 Korean people with facial wrinkles and laxity (sagging) after just one treatment.
The study employed two independent clinicians to evaluate the results across seven areas of the face using before and after photos. Photos were taken once before the treatment, then immediately after, and at the three- and six-month marks.
Both the patients and the doctors had similar views on how well the treatment worked, with visible improvements to facial skin tightness noted. Most patients were very satisfied, particularly at the three-month mark.
The researchers observed that the most noticeable improvements were seen around the eyes, jawline and cheeks. The only adverse effects noted were redness and swelling in six of the 20 patients, and two cases of blood spots and bruising. These effects were noted as mild and short-lived.
A 2016 study (Zandvakili et al) saw similar overall results across 25 Iranian patients. In this case, most physicians and patients rated the treatment results as ‘normal’ or ‘good’, with just one person saying the treatment was ‘weak’. The researchers noted that HIFU was a safe and effective treatment for facial skin tightening, reducing the appearance of facial wrinkles, and improving skin tone and facial contours.
A 2012 study (Alster and Tanzi) published by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery showed that HIFU is effective and safe to use for improving skin texture and contours on the knees, inner thighs and upper arms.
